THE DISTURBANCE
We have been fasting and praying with our congregation for about two weeks now. Although it has not been exactly easy to go about it, the Lord has been so present and revealing! He revealed though some disturbing news, yet not for the purpose of sowing fear -that is the custom of the enemy, not of God- but to make us aware of what we are facing.
During our morning prayer time with my wife Claire, the words of Jesus saying “this kind does not come out except through fasting and prayer” have come to our minds and talk repeatedly, nearly every day, so we know that God want us to become aware that something is going on and it does not look like the things we see in the surface.
Compounding those words, for the last few weeks I have had in my spirit both a burden and an urgency to look into -and pray- regarding a disturbance in the heavenlies that is translating into the spiritual atmosphere around us all, generating troubles in all areas of life.
I have asked the Holy Spirit about it and this is what I hear:
There is a mighty disturbance in the world, manifesting in erratic actions bringing confusion, governments taking strange courses of action, mixed with attacks on the church and all things Christian. This is originating in a spiritual atmosphere disturbance in the heavenly places.
This turmoil in the heavenlies is caused by the emergence of a church that has for too long been dormant -oblivious even- regarding the spiritual realities that surround us. Some here, some there are standing up in battle gear and releasing heavenly power in the name of Jesus, which is causing such a turmoil in the heavenly places that demonic forces are akin to bulls in china shops. The emerging church has hit a hornets nest of sorts.
The church, although for now a small portion of it, -not an intangible, ethereal, nobody knows where it is kind of church, but real people in every local expression of the body of Christ- is discovering the power that is available when she literally pounds the gates of hell. More and more are going to join, and the church will become again unstoppable to the point of fulfill what that song says, ” the world has yet to see the church in victory”.
But then again, why don’t we see more power manifest? Why don’t we see more changes resulting from the power of God through the church? Why don’t we see more revivals? This is my question, because I want, just like you want, to see more salvations, miracles, changed people who change the course of events in world history.
Then, this is what I hear from the Holy Spirit.
What we are seeing and feeling right now is a disturbance in all areas of life, including the church. The economy, world peace, political turmoil, cultural clashes, attacks on the family, and on everything we hold dear and the values we cherish. But that is not the root of the problem.
The Holy Spirit says not to be confused, and much less to allow fear to creep in. The disturbance is not political or economical in nature, neither is it cultural, religious or educational: rather the Lord says to open our eyes to the true nature of the turmoil which is none other than demonic disturbance.
All the rest of upheavals, uncertainties, fears, collapses of even the more basic human values -let alone the disregard of higher spiritual values- are all direct results of demonic disturbances. The devil knows that he has a little time, and when he sees the church awakening, he recognizes the threat, for he knows only too well what happens to him when the church is up and running!
The paradox is that the emergent church, that part of the body that is discovering the power of standing and making a stand in the heavenlies -not as simply standing for or against issues- but standing in the realization of the power available to the body through prayer, fasting and then the plain, direct declaration of Jesus to the visible and invisible worlds, is exactly what is causing the demons to be in fear of a church in power. And so, they run around disturbed and causing disturbance.
Now, the interesting and encouraging thing to look here, is that the chain of events we see right now, and all that looks and feel like a storm of evil powers, caused by demonic powers running in fear of the church, will turn to be a chain of events for good as the church presses on and more committed Christians realize that our position is above the powers that be, seated with Christ in the heavenly places, above all powers!
But.
The Holy Spirit also warns us that the time is short for us too, because all these good things, the church standing in victory, and the power of the Holy Spirit spreading over all the world, will happen right before Christ comes back to this earth to take the church with Him. Be aware of the times, of the urgency in this Kairos time, and join the marching crowd pounding heaven and hell in the Name of Jesus Christ.
There is no time to “wait and see” before getting involved with the Holy Spirit to be part of the greatest display of heavenly power the world has seen. Get involved with the Holy Spirit now, and be an actor in the last stage of our long history. All is accelerating, do not miss your place of action in the developing play.
Stand up people of God. Pray and expect. Yes, be sure to expect! Don’t be afraid of demonic disturbance, for you -the church, the body of Christ- have the power of the Holy Spirit in you, and when you move, demons tremble . But remember that your authority is directly proportional to your closeness to God, for it is His authority in you and through you.
God us calling you today to fast and pray, to get closer to Him, and renewed in that closeness march forward against demonic disturbance in the power of the name of Jesus.
God is calling you today to realize -as you get closer to the Holy Spirit- the anointing that is in you, and that the anointing manifests from the inside out. Out of your belly is not just a funny expression, it is a meaningful reality, that what -or better, who- is in you will flow out of your inner man to reach the world around you.
Remember, though, that “this kind will not come out other than with prayer and fasting”. Just, don’t try to be more powerful than the Holy Spirit. “It is the power of God in you” as stated by Mr. Pentecost (Duplessy).
