When King Hezekiah was surrounded by the mighty army of Assyria, trusting God for their deliverance, yet facing an unsurmountable wall of attack from the enemy, the attacking army sent letters to the king in which they pointed to the little strength, and what they -the enemy- saw as failures on the part of the king of Judah, and also stating why they should not trust God, because they -the attackers- knew what was better for the people of Judah, if they only would take a moment to consider the awesome offer the king of Assyria was making.
Although, there must have been fear on the side of Judah, seeing that they were surrounded, Hezekiah went to the Temple, and brought those letters and spread them before God. He decided to trust God against the words of the enemy.
And God delivered them.
God simply said: “Because you prayed to Me, I have heard”
Fast forward to your place, your time and the circumstances you are right now facing
I don’t know what you are facing right now. I don’t know how long you have been in a siege-like situation. I don’t know the type of your affliction, whether physical, financial, family, career, children, or whatever else the enemy has thrown your way.
But this I know, the One who sent me to bring these words of encouragement today, is the same One who delivered Hezekiah and countless others, including me, when we simply decide to trust Him and “bring the letters” to his desk.
The world around you says you can’t
The ruler of the world system says you have no strength
The powers that be say you are not wise in opposing
They say Your religion is not better that any other belief system
You are not different in their eyes, than any others who they have swallowed up
The Assyrians saw God as a religious activity not real power, and the world today tells you that you do better trusting the world system to give you a solution to your troubles, rather than trusting an old fashioned tale.
Your own emotions speak to you; they tell you how tired you are and why not give in to the enemy because after all they are only trying to help you.
Your body speaks to you and says your strength is nearly gone, just stop fighting, stop expecting, stop moving
Your finances say that you have no resources to fulfill your dreams, and to become realistic; you can’t, they tell you.
But then again,
What your emotions, your body, your finances, your age, your pain, your frustrations, your achievements say are not the reality that God has in store for you.
Bring those letters to God!
Spread before the Lord, the voices, the letters your mind and heart are being bombarded with. Realize that all those letters, no matter who delivers them, if your own weakness, or the world around you, all those letters will show the same signature from the enemy of your soul, who would do anything to move you away from trusting God.
Bring it all before God, and today hear Him say: “Because you prayed, I have Heard”.
