STOP THE MIRACLES!

What a suggestion!

One day, a church leader -well intentioned, I must add- approached me and told me that I should not talk too much about miracles, particularly miracles of healing, because of myself having a hearing impairment.

The reasoning went like this: Brother, you speak a lot about miracles, but you have to realize that you cannot possibly encourage faith in the people attending because you have not been healed yourself. You need to seek God to heal your hearing impairment and only after you are healed you can encourage people to seek healing in true faith.

I must admit that for a moment the whole conversation seemed logical, a good point, and sounded like good advice.

But only for a moment.

Then I thought to myself, why do I preach miracles, and why do I pray for supernatural intervention every time I minister? And it struck me.

“Get thee behind me Satan!

I preach healing because it is written in the Word of God”

If I were to stop preaching miracles because I am still waiting for a particular miracle in my life, and only then start again proclaiming the supernatural intervention of God in the lives of those who seek Him, what should I do with all the miracles that the Holy Spirit wrought in so many people we prayed for?

What would I do with that deaf lady that received hearing? And that lady who had a tumor fall off her face? Or the lady who had a stroke 25 years before and suddenly recovered function on her arm? Or the guy who left the wheelchair and run up a flight of stairs? Or that boy with eczema that disappeared in front of our eyes? If I did not pray for them because of my own impairment, what would have happened? Or, not happened, actually!

Faith is the substance of unseen things.
